Alain says one of her strongest personal beliefs is that people should be allowed to live as themselves without constant pressure to conform to other people’s preferences.
Speaking on the No NDA Podcast, the singer-songwriter said people frequently criticise others simply because they choose to live differently.
She argued that many disagreements come down to personal preference rather than one person being objectively right or wrong.
Alain said people who want their own choices and preferences respected should extend the same consideration to others.
She also suggested that criticism can sometimes be influenced by people wishing they could act with the same freedom they see in someone else.
According to Alain, the better approach is to establish personal boundaries where necessary while allowing other people to be who they are.
