TTPS Urges Public to Delete Video Revealing Identity of Missing Child

Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has issued a public appeal to delete a video that shows a missing child with an adult. The clip surfaced on social media after the child was located, and TTPS says it could reveal the minor’s identity, potentially compromising an ongoing investigation.

TTPS stresses that once a missing child is found, their image and any identifying details must no longer be publicized. Publishing such information during an investigation can be a criminal offence under Trinidad and Tobago law, endangering the child’s privacy and safety.

The child is safe and receiving support from the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. The Special Victims Department is actively investigating the matter and has provided regional contact numbers for anyone with information.

TTPS urges all platforms and page administrators to remove the video and any related posts immediately. Those who have additional information are asked to contact TTPS at 555, 999, or 911, or the Special Victims Department’s regional offices listed on the police website.

The Police Service thanks community groups such as Hunters Search and Rescue for their assistance in locating missing persons and reaffirms its partnership with community organizations to protect children’s privacy.
