At the time, he had a full hairstyle, but decided to shave his head bald so that his aunt would know he was standing with her through the experience. His aunt eventually won her battle with cancer, but JR Lee joked that while she won her battle, he “lost the battle with hair growth.” The comedian and content creator also opened up about another health issue close to his family, revealing that his mother has been living with diabetes since she was a teenager. JR Lee said diabetes is sometimes treated as though it is a simple condition, but stressed that it is a very serious disease that requires people to be careful with their health. Cancer and diabetes are the two causes being highlighted through this year’s Scotiabank Wellness Race Series, and JR Lee said he will be showing up for his mother. He plans to participate alongside her in the 1.5-kilometre event in San Fernando, joking that he does not have the stamina for the full 5K. JR Lee said they will be taking on the hill together on October 10 and October 24, while encouraging others to show up for the people they love and make an effort to live healthier lives.
