Trinidad and Tobago could experience periods of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Monday, with forecasters warning that some areas may also face gusty winds and street or flash flooding.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, in its 5:46 a.m. forecast for Monday, October 5, said cloudy conditions will be interrupted by occasional showers and periods of light rain throughout the day.
There is a 70 per cent chance of a few heavier showers and thunderstorms developing between the late morning and mid-afternoon.
The Met Service cautioned that gusty winds could accompany stronger showers and thunderstorms, while street and flash flooding may occur, particularly in areas prone to rapid water accumulation.
Residents travelling during the late-morning and afternoon period are being encouraged to remain alert to changing weather conditions and possible flooding.
The forecast comes after periods of rainfall affected parts of Trinidad over the weekend, increasing concern in communities that are vulnerable to flooding.
Conditions are expected to remain unsettled through parts of the day, with residents advised to continue monitoring official weather updates.
