The graduation brought together the two artistes and Alexander as participants celebrated completing practical skills training. Their message focused on encouraging young people to use those skills to pursue productive opportunities, move away from conflict and make positive contributions to their families and communities. Addressing the gathering, one speaker stressed that people who want to change their lives should be given an opportunity to do so. “They have to start somewhere. And we want to give them a chance,” the speaker said. The appeal also focused on ending violence beyond the boundaries of Tunapuna. The speaker said the push for peace had extended into other communities and called for people to consider what could be done differently to end what was described as a “nonsensical war” that has cost the lives of young men, women and other family members. And go on, be different. And forget the bitterness. Be better,” the speaker told the gathering.
