Captain Vallence Rambharat Celebrates National Honour Alongside Hunters Search and Rescue Founding Members Captain Vallence Rambharat has celebrated receiving the Hummingbird Medal Gold alongside two of the founding members of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team. Rambharat was pictured with Johnny Maharaj and Ramnauth “Hulk” Ramcharitar at the Republic Day National Awards Ceremony at Queen’s Hall, marking what the organisation described as a proud moment for its members. Rambharat received the Hummingbird Medal Gold for loyal and dedicated service to Trinidad and Tobago, recognising his contribution through the Hunters Search and Rescue Team and its work assisting people and families across the country. The Hunters Search and Rescue Team was established in 2021 and has since become widely known for responding to reports of missing people and organising searches in communities, forests and other difficult terrain. Under Rambharat’s leadership, volunteers have participated in hundreds of search and rescue operations, often working alongside relatives, residents and emergency services in efforts to locate missing and vulnerable people. The organisation’s activities have also expanded beyond missing-person searches to include community outreach, emergency assistance and wildlife rescue. For Rambharat, the national recognition was also an opportunity to acknowledge the volunteers and founding members who have contributed to the organisation since its establishment. The photograph of Rambharat alongside Maharaj and Ramcharitar captured three of the people involved in the team’s early development sharing the occasion as their years of volunteer service received national recognition. The Hummingbird Medal is one of Trinidad and Tobago’s national awards and is presented for loyal and devoted service beneficial to the country, as well as gallantry or humane action. The recognition represents another milestone for the Hunters Search and Rescue Team as its members continue their volunteer work throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
