Slinger Francisco, the legendary calypsonian known across the world as The Mighty Sparrow, has died at the age of 91.
In a statement released by his family, Francisco died peacefully on September 27, 2026, in New York, surrounded by loved ones, following a brief illness.
Widely regarded as an institution in the entertainment industry, Francisco was celebrated for his skill and finesse as a singer, songwriter, and mentor, and was beloved by generations of fans.
Beyond his artistry, his family remembered him as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, life partner, and friend. The family said they take comfort in knowing that before his passing, Francisco had given his life to Jesus Christ, having been baptized in the Seventh-day Adventist faith.
