Johann ‘Jesus’ Harry Released After Government Revokes Preventive Detention Order Issued In June 2026 Johann Harry, also known as “Jesus,” has been released from custody following the formal revocation of a Preventive Detention Order issued against him during Trinidad and Tobago’s State of Emergency. Harry publicly shared copies of both his original detention order and the subsequent revocation order on his Facebook page. The documents show that the Preventive Detention Order was made on June 16, 2026, under Regulation 14 of the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026. According to the grounds outlined in the detention document, authorities alleged that Harry had used social media to publish and circulate material directed at Indo-Trinidadians, people of East Indian descent, Hindus, supporters of the Government, public officials and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Authorities further alleged that some of the material contained racial and religious hostility and had the potential to inflame racial, religious and political tensions. The document also alleged that some statements included threats or encouragement of violence. Those claims represented the Government’s stated grounds for Harry’s preventive detention and were not findings of guilt by a court. A second document shared by Harry shows that Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander formally revoked the Preventive Detention Order on September 10, 2026.
