Injured Man Alleges Police Threats, Demands Answers After Year-Long Wait for Action
A Trinidad and Tobago man has taken his complaints public, alleging that he has spent approximately a year seeking police action over an incident that he says left him with a serious hand injury and damage to his property.
Ryan Ali made the claims in a video and subsequent voice recording circulated on social media, calling for intervention from senior authorities and alleging that officers attached to the Arima Police Station have failed to adequately address his complaint.
Ali said the matter dates back to around October 2025 and claimed that despite repeatedly approaching police, he has yet to see the action he was promised.
In the video, Ali displayed his injured hand, claiming he can no longer properly use it because of the original incident. He also showed what he described as damage to his property.
Ali claimed that he was given assurances at different stages that the matter would be addressed and an arrest made. More recently, he alleged that an officer asked him to allow seven days for action, but said approximately three weeks passed without the expected outcome.
The matter took a more serious turn when Ali alleged that he was intimidated over his decision to speak publicly.
In a separate voice recording, he claimed that officers attached to the Arima Police Station threatened him if he took the matter to social media.
“If I take it to social media, they will deal with me,” Ali alleged.
Ali also made an unverified allegation that police were seeking a bribe and claimed he possesses recordings relating to some of his interactions with officers.
He said his decision to go public came after months of attempting to have the matter addressed and has now appealed for intervention from senior police officials and government authorities.
Ali also expressed concern for his personal safety, saying he wanted his statements placed on record following his decision to publicly raise the allegations.
TG News has not independently verified Ali’s account of the original incident, the circumstances surrounding his injury, the bribery allegation or his claim that officers threatened him.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service should be afforded an opportunity to respond to the allegations and clarify the status of the reported investigation.
Ali maintains that after approximately one year of pursuing the matter, he wants the original case investigated and answers about why he believes action has taken so long.
