TK Smokehouse has cut ties with Platinum Cuisines after a series of troubling allegations emerged, including racial insensitivity and severe tax issues involving the building’s owner. The announcement was made by TK Smokehouse’s chef, who shared his perspective on social media, citing a deteriorating working relationship that could no longer be ignored.

In a candid social media post, the chef explained that his initial dealings with the owner of Platinum Cuisines were marred by a reluctance to formalize a contract, raising the first red flag. Despite this, the chef decided to give the partnership a try under the promise of a 50-50 business model. However, what followed were allegations of racial insensitivity, with the owner being characterized as dismissive towards Black customers, which further strained the partnership.

Further complicating matters were serious financial discrepancies. TK Smokehouse claimed that the owner had not paid taxes for five years, which came to light during a visit from the IRS. This revelation, coupled with the owner’s pressure on the chef to share personal tax information and the lack of transparency regarding existing debts, fueled the decision to withdraw from this partnership.

The chef expressed disappointment, highlighting how the business thrived under his influence, but felt the need to prioritize personal values and integrity over a problematic business arrangement. Looking forward, the chef shared his intention to focus on his passions for cooking and music, indicating an eagerness to redirect his energies towards his artistic pursuits. This move marks a significant pivot for TK Smokehouse as it endeavors to uphold its standards and values within the community.
