Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea has been forced to postpone a concert in Réunion after falling ill during the Indian Ocean leg of her tour.
The singer, whose given name is Chinsea Lee, travelled to Madagascar to perform at the 13th Sômarôho Festival in Nosy Be, where she was billed for appearances on August 5 and August 7.
Shenseea was subsequently scheduled to perform at NORDEV in Saint-Denis, Réunion. However, organisers announced that the concert would be postponed after her health failed to improve sufficiently for her to take the stage.
According to a press release shared by Shenseea, the artiste and several members of her team had been affected by health problems. Despite efforts to proceed with the concert, a medical assessment determined that her condition did not allow her to perform.
Shenseea later revealed the nature of her illness on Instagram, telling followers: “I got the stomach bug.”
Organisers said the concert will be rescheduled following discussions with Shenseea’s management. Tickets already purchased will remain valid for the new date, while patrons can also request refunds.
The health setback comes during a busy international period for the Jamaican entertainer, whose 2024 album Never Gets Late Here received a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album.
For now, Shenseea’s return to the stage will depend on her recovery.
