Trinidad Killa and Nicki Minaj Win Soca Collaboration of the Year for “Eskimo” Trinidad Killa and Trinidad-born international superstar Nicki Minaj have added a major Caribbean music honour to their names, winning Soca Collaboration of the Year for “Eskimo” at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards. The result was confirmed following the fourth annual Caribbean Music Awards, held at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain on September 19. The ceremony marked the first time the Caribbean Music Awards were staged in the Caribbean, following previous editions in Brooklyn, New York. “Eskimo” faced a competitive field that included Machel Montano and Ayetian’s “Truth & Balance,” Machel Montano and Davido’s “Fling It Up,” Skinny Fabulous, Travis World and Suhrawh’s “Can You Bend,” V’ghn and Terra D Governor’s “Jab Decisions,” Voice and Bunji Garlin’s “Flatten,” and GBM and Nailah Blackman’s “Tay Lay Lay.” The victory represents another milestone for Trinidad Killa while also giving Nicki Minaj recognition in a soca category at the Caribbean Music Awards. Minaj’s involvement with “Eskimo” attracted international attention when she joined Trinidad Killa on the remix, connecting one of the biggest Trinidad-born names in global music with a track emerging from Trinidad and Tobago’s contemporary music scene. The award was part of a strong showing for Trinidad and Tobago at this year’s ceremony. Lady Lava was named Female Soca Artist of the Year, while Kes captured Male Soca Artist of the Year and Soca Performer of the Year. Full Blown received the Soca Impact Award and also won Soca Video of the Year for “Good Spirits.” Yung Bredda and Full Blown secured Soca Song of the Year for “The Greatest Bend Over,” while Coutain was named Soca Best New Artist. For Trinidad Killa and Nicki Minaj, the Soca Collaboration of the Year victory gives “Eskimo” another major distinction and places the collaboration among the recognised soca releases of the year.
