Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard Opens Recruitment for 2026 Enlisted Careers
The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) Coast Guard has officially launched its 2026 recruitment drive, inviting eligible citizens to apply for a range of enlisted career opportunities across multiple technical and support specialisations.
The recruitment campaign is aimed at attracting motivated young nationals interested in serving their country while developing valuable professional skills in a disciplined military environment.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to pursue careers in the following areas:
Writer
Seaman
Cook
Steward
Electrician
Mechanic
Plumber
Tailor
Air Conditioning Technician
Shipwright
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.
Be of good character with no criminal record, supported by a Police Certificate of Character issued within the last three months or proof of payment for one.
Be at least 18 years old and no older than 25 years as at September 30, 2026.
Meet the academic and certification requirements for their chosen specialisation.
While Seaman applicants require at least three CXC/CSEC General Proficiency passes, most technical trades also require recognised vocational or professional certifications in their respective fields.
Registration Process
Prospective candidates must first complete the online initial registration by scanning the QR code provided on the recruitment notice.
Initial registration closes on 10 July 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Candidates who fail to complete the online registration before the deadline will not be permitted to register during document verification.
Documents Required
Applicants attending verification must present original copies of:
Electronic Birth Certificate
Valid photo identification (National ID Card, Driver’s Permit or Passport)
Academic certificates
Technical or vocational certificates
Police Certificate of Character or proof of payment
Candidates are also advised to have access to the email address used during registration.
Verification Schedule
Document verification and completion of registration will take place at:
MILAT Academy, Mausica Road (South), D’Abadie
Verification sessions will run from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. according to the first letter of applicants’ surnames:
13 July: A–D
14 July: E–H
15 July: I–M
16 July: N–R
17 July: S–Z
The Defence Force stressed that registration is only considered successful after the verification process has been completed.
Assessment Process
Eligible candidates will undergo a comprehensive selection process that includes:
Written assessment
Physical fitness test
Interview
Medical evaluation
Psychiatric evaluation
Background check
The TTDF also noted that a recruitment team will visit Tobago on a date to be announced to facilitate applicants from the sister isle.
Officials are encouraging interested young citizens who meet the requirements to complete their registration before the deadline and prepare the necessary documentation to avoid delays during the verification process.
