FIFA President Gianni Infantino has pledged US$25 million for the Guyana Football Federation to support football development during the 2027–2030 cycle, although the proposed funding package remains subject to final approval.

According to News Room Guyana, Infantino made the announcement while commissioning a FIFA Arena mini-pitch at Haslington on the East Coast of Demerara. He said the investment would support the country’s football talent and create opportunities for players.

The pledge forms part of FIFA’s proposed Surplus Solidarity Programme, which would draw on the organisation’s reserves to increase planned worldwide development funding to US$6.35 billion for the four-year period.

Under the proposal, each of FIFA’s 211 member associations would be allocated US$25 million. Funding would support football infrastructure, long-term development projects, youth programmes and women’s football.

However, the detailed conditions governing access to the money are still being finalised. FIFA says these will cover eligibility, applications, project approvals, disbursements, financial controls and audits.

The framework is due to be finalised through the relevant FIFA committees and the FIFA Council in December 2026, before being submitted for approval at the 77th FIFA Congress in March 2027.

For Guyana, the announcement represents a prospective investment across the 2027–2030 development cycle. The pledge does not mean the entire US$25 million has already been approved or paid to the federation.
