Etihad Airways is preparing to launch three weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Luxembourg-Findel International Airport on 29 October, establishing a new direct air connection between the United Arab Emirates and Luxembourg. According to aviation publication Simple Flying, the airline plans to operate the service using its Airbus A321LR aircraft.
The new route provides Luxembourg with a connection to Etihad’s hub in Abu Dhabi, where passengers can transfer to onward flights. The airline is seeking to attract both travellers flying directly between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi and passengers connecting through the UAE to destinations elsewhere in its network.
Simple Flying identifies several potential onward destinations for passengers travelling from Luxembourg via Abu Dhabi, including Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai, Delhi, Singapore, Seoul, Mumbai and Beijing. Other destinations mentioned in the publication’s analysis include Mauritius and Bali, offering further possible connections for travellers heading towards the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia.
The publication also reports that booking data for the 12 months to October 2025 recorded approximately 210,000 round-trip passengers between Luxembourg and destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and eastern and southern Africa. This figure covers journeys between Luxembourg and the wider group of destinations, rather than passengers travelling exclusively between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi.
The service is part of Etihad’s wider network development, which includes additional destinations in Asia and Africa. The airline has also been expanding its mainland Chinese network, with flights to Shanghai having resumed earlier in October 2026, according to Simple Flying. Further Chinese destinations are planned for March 2027, although those separate services do not form part of the new Luxembourg route.
For Luxembourg, the immediate development is the planned introduction of three weekly flights to Abu Dhabi, creating another option for direct travel to the UAE and onward connections through the airline’s hub. The service is scheduled to begin on 29 October. The source does not specify the exact departure times or provide a confirmed timetable for individual operating days.
