British Airways is significantly expanding its Barbados schedule, with a daily direct service from London Gatwick set to begin on October 25, 2026.
The new Gatwick connection will operate between London and Grantley Adams International Airport and will complement British Airways’ existing flights from London Heathrow.
According to the Barbados Government Information Service, the expansion represents a 70 per cent increase in British Airways seats for the 2026-2027 winter season, with summer 2027 capacity expected to more than double.
The expanded programme could provide Barbados with more than 120,000 additional airline seats annually as British Airways restores year-round Gatwick service to the island.
The airline’s Heathrow service is scheduled to operate daily through November before increasing to twice daily between December 2026 and March 2027.
When combined with the new Gatwick operation, that schedule would give Barbados three daily direct British Airways flights from the United Kingdom during the peak winter period, one from Gatwick and two from Heathrow. Government officials described it as a first for the island.
Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc Chief Executive Officer Andrea Franklin told CBC that the additional capacity comes at an important time as airlines continue reviewing and rationalising routes across their networks.
The United Kingdom remains an important source market for Barbados’ tourism industry, and the expanded British Airways schedule will substantially increase the number of seats available between the two countries during the winter travel season.
