Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has shared a behind-the-scenes video from the United Nations General Assembly in New York, recorded shortly before she was due to address world leaders.
In the brief video shared on social media, Persad-Bissessar was seated alongside members of Trinidad and Tobago’s delegation in a holding room at the United Nations.
The Prime Minister told viewers that she expected to take the podium within approximately 45 minutes.
“We are in a holding room and within about 45 minutes, I believe, I shall be addressing the Assembly,” Persad-Bissessar said.
She also greeted viewers and indicated that she was looking forward to seeing their comments.
The video provided a glimpse of the Trinidad and Tobago delegation in the final moments before the country’s presentation at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The annual gathering in New York brings together heads of state, heads of government and senior representatives from countries around the world, giving Trinidad and Tobago an opportunity to present its positions and priorities on the international stage.
Persad-Bissessar’s appearance at the General Assembly comes as world leaders gather for high-level discussions on a range of international issues.
