Officers of the Southern Division are continuing investigations after police-marked clothing, a ski mask and ammunition were discovered during a search in Marabella on Saturday evening. According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, officers went to Sooknanan Street sometime between 4 pm and 8 pm and searched a bushy area. During the search, officers discovered a black bag containing two magazines loaded with a total of 28 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Police also found a ski mask, a black cap bearing police markings and a blue tactical jacket carrying what appeared to be an official police arm patch. The items were seized and investigations are continuing. The discovery comes amid continuing concerns over criminals using or imitating police clothing to deceive victims during robberies and other attacks. The TTPS changed its general uniform policy in October 2024, returning officers to traditional grey and charcoal uniforms as part of efforts to make legitimate police officers easier for members of the public to identify.
