Mayaro man dies after stabbing near bar early Saturday morning

A 31-year-old Mayaro man has died after being stabbed during an alleged altercation near Ellos Bar in Mayaro early Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Romario Gonzales, also known as “Buky,” of Ortoire Village, Mayaro. According to information provided, the incident occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Gonzales and two other men were allegedly involved in an altercation in the vicinity of the bar when several people sustained stab wounds. Gonzales was subsequently taken to the Mayaro District Health Facility, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Two other men were also injured during the incident. They were subsequently transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital for further medical treatment. Police officers and Crime Scene Investigators responded and processed the area for evidence as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident continue.
