Mother and daughter robbed at gunpoint outside Couva restaurant

A 45-year-old San Fernando woman and her 25-year-old daughter were robbed at gunpoint outside a restaurant in Couva on Saturday night.

Police said the incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on September 12, as the women were preparing to enter their vehicle in the car park of Olympus Sky Restaurant & Lounge at Atlantic Plaza.

According to reports, two armed men approached the women and announced a robbery, causing them to fear for their lives.

One of the suspects allegedly took the 45-year-old woman’s Samsung S26 cellphone and a black wallet containing her Trinidad and Tobago driver’s permit, cash and several bank cards.

The second suspect reportedly stole a gold chain from her 25-year-old daughter.

The suspects then escaped in a silver Nissan Y12 wagon bearing registration PDC 3924. Police said a third suspect was driving the vehicle.

Following intelligence gathered during the investigation, officers from the CD Task Force Area South, Couva CID and Couva Chargeroom went to Ibis Avenue, Lisas Boulevard, Couva, where they located the vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery.
