A 25‑year‑old woman from Arima was robbed at East Side Plaza in Port of Spain on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, around midday. She entered the mall through the George Street entrance when two men approached her. One of the men allegedly snatched her bag, causing her to fall to the ground. The suspects then fled the scene, and no arrests have been reported.

According to the victim, the stolen bag contained a subway work uniform, a debit card, a national identification card, a pair of gold hibiscus‑flower earrings, and a gold slave band reportedly worth TT$9,000. She suffered no physical injuries beyond the fall.

Police have not released a case number or identified the suspects. Mall security footage is being reviewed, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about shop‑lifting and personal safety in busy commercial areas.

Residents of the area are advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement. The mall has pledged to enhance security measures following the robbery.
