Daughter Appeals for Help as Parents Remain Missing Following Nepal-Tibet Border Floods
A family is desperately seeking information on Annamdevara Venkatram and Annamdevara Aanagha, who remain unaccounted for following devastating flash floods near the Nepal-Tibet border.
The couple was among pilgrims undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra when severe flooding struck the border region on August 26, destroying key infrastructure and disrupting communications.
Information provided to the Indian Embassy identified Venkatram, 52, and Aanagha, 49, among several pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh reported missing or uncontactable near the Tibet border.
They were travelling as part of a larger pilgrimage group associated with Mumbai-based Richa Tours and led by Dr Milind Chitley. Reports have placed the size of the affected group at approximately 60 to 66 travellers, with authorities continuing efforts to establish contact with those still unaccounted for.
The group was believed to have been near the border immigration and customs area when floodwaters swept through the region. The border-post complex was reportedly severely damaged, complicating efforts to determine the whereabouts of pilgrims who were in the area at the time.
The couple’s daughter, Tanvi, has since made an emotional public appeal for information about her parents, urging people to share their details as widely as possible.
“Please share this video as much as possible,” she pleaded as she sought to increase awareness of her parents’ disappearance.
Search and coordination efforts involving Nepalese authorities, the Indian Embassy and local teams have continued as families anxiously await information about their loved ones.
Damaged roads, communications and border infrastructure have complicated efforts to reach some of the affected areas and establish the whereabouts of those who remain unaccounted for.
For Tanvi and other relatives awaiting news, the focus remains on finding their loved ones and bringing them home safely.
