K-Man and Plumpy Boss Sign Truce Amidst Trinibad Rivalry, Marking Turn in Violent Faction Feud

In a significant move to quell tensions in the Trinibad music scene, rival artistes K-Man and Plumpy Boss have signed a truce. The announcement was made during a media briefing on Saturday, August 22, at the constituency office of Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander in Tunapuna. Justice Minister Devesh Maharaj was also present, underscoring the importance of this reconciliation beyond the music industry.

K-Man, whose real name is Kashif Sankar, and Plumpy Boss, known legally as Mescach Emmanuel, have been at the forefront of a rivalry associated with the opposing Sixx and Seven/Rasta City factions. Both artists have been previously charged under the Anti-Gang Act and have survived serious gun violence, highlighting the perilous backdrop to their careers.

Sankar was the target of a shooting in December 2023 on the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, which resulted in four deaths, including an innocent bystander. Similarly, Emmanuel was critically injured in a shooting incident in St Maarten in July 2024, which left five others injured.

The Trinibad genre has been marred by violence, with several artistes, including Kyle ‘Rebel Sixx’ George, falling victim to gang-related killings. The ministers’ involvement in Saturday’s truce announcement points to a potential shift away from the violence that has plagued the genre.

As the debate continues over the influence of Trinibad music and its ties to gang culture, the truce between K-Man and Plumpy Boss represents a hopeful step toward peace. The real test will be whether this new spirit of reconciliation can extend beyond the two artistes to their respective circles and communities.
