A 19-year-old man from Westmoorings was arrested after law enforcement officials discovered firearms and ammunition at his residence and business. The operation, part of a crime eradication exercise, was conducted by the Western Division Task Force on Thursday, August 5, 2026, under the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026.
The task force, operating between 1 am and 9 am, initially searched the teenager’s home, where they found a Glock 19 pistol loaded with fifteen rounds of 9mm ammunition, a Smith & Wesson pistol with two magazines and twenty-three rounds of 9mm ammunition, as well as a bag containing seventy-two additional rounds.
Later, officers proceeded to a quarry in Silica Road, Wallerfield, owned by the suspect, where they uncovered 90 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. The teenager was subsequently taken into custody, and ongoing investigations are being led by PC Ramnarine.
In a separate search at Sparrow Drive, Petit Valley, near a basketball court, law enforcement officials discovered two plastic jars containing a total of 148 grams of cannabis. No arrests were made in connection with this find.
The operation was sanctioned by Senior Superintendent Williams, coordinated by Inspector Grant and Acting Sgt Dominique, and supervised by Corporals Robinson and McClean. Officers involved included PCs Roberts, David, Ramnarine, Williams, Wilson-Dowers, Figueira, Regis, Joseph, and WPC Jackson.
