Woman Says Routine ‘Mommy Makeover’ Became Fight For Her Life
A woman has shared a harrowing account of what she describes as a life-altering medical ordeal following a cosmetic surgery procedure at a plastic surgery clinic in Dallas, claiming that what was intended to be a routine “mommy makeover” turned into a months-long battle for survival.
In a social media post, the woman said she underwent surgery on January 9, 2026, under the care of Dr. Shararah at Avana Plastic Surgery. According to her account, she developed severe complications within days of the procedure, including sepsis, a necrotizing soft tissue infection, MRSA, staph infections, and later additional infections involving Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus lugdunensis.
She stated that her condition rapidly deteriorated, requiring multiple emergency surgeries, extensive tissue removal (debridement), wound vacuum therapy, prolonged intravenous antibiotics, and the eventual removal of both breast implants and breast tissue.
The woman said her surgical wounds reopened only hours after the initial operation, forcing doctors to leave portions of her body open until she could undergo further surgery. She added that she was told there was a possibility she might not survive.
Nearly seven months later, she says she continues to experience wound complications, recurring infections, drainage, and chronic pain. She also described the emotional and psychological impact of the experience, saying she has been permanently disfigured and is still struggling with the aftermath.
“I never imagined that a surgery I hoped would help me feel more confident would become the fight for my life,” she wrote, adding that she decided to share her experience in the hope that it may help others carefully consider the risks associated with cosmetic procedures.
Images accompanying her post appear to document various stages of her recovery and have prompted widespread reactions online, with many expressing sympathy and urging others to thoroughly research cosmetic surgery providers before undergoing elective procedures.
At the time of writing, the claims remain the woman’s account of events. There has been no public response from Avana Plastic Surgery or Dr. Shararah regarding the allegations contained in her post.
