In a recent press conference, attorney Prakash Ramadhar passionately defended the integrity of the Trinidad and Tobago Judiciary, addressing serious allegations against Senior Magistrate Brian Davidine. Ramadhar emphasized that accusations against judicial officers must be firmly grounded in evidence, especially in an era where misinformation can spread rapidly through social media.

The controversy arose after an article suggested wrongdoing in Davidine’s execution of duties, but Ramadhar pointed out the lack of names in the article, indicating the need for accountability in reporting. He expressed concern that unfounded allegations could further erode public confidence in the judicial system, which is crucial for maintaining lawfulness and order in society.

Alongside Ramadhar, Senior Magistrate Davidine and lawyer Michael Rufflall provided clarifications regarding matters occurring in the court, asserting that the magistrate acted within the law during previous cases involving accusations of possession and cash detention. They condemned the malicious use of social media to spread misinformation, emphasizing that judicial records should guide public discourse rather than unverified claims.

As trust in institutions continues to dwindle, Ramadhar’s call for a robust response to these allegations aims to restore confidence in the judicial process, highlighting the necessity of protecting the Judiciary from unwarranted attacks and ensuring the rule of law prevails. The Judiciary, as the bedrock of justice, must be shielded from baseless criticisms to strengthen public trust and uphold legal integrity.
