On Tuesday 30th June, 2026, a significant anti-crime exercise was conducted in the Couva district, led by the officers of the CID/CRO Special Operations Unit. This operation, based on intelligence, took place around 10:40 p.m. in the area of a car park along Toolsie Street.
During the exercise, officers discovered a pouch cleverly hidden in a bushy area. Upon a further search, they uncovered a ‘Glock 19 Gen 4 9×19’ firearm, fitted with a magazine containing fifteen rounds of ammunition. Also found in the pouch were a Kydex holster, an identification card, a badge attributed to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, and a Firearm User’s Licence booklet.
Following the discovery, all items were seized, and the scene was processed by Crime Scene Investigators. The circumstances that led to these police-issued items being found in such a location are currently under investigation by the Couva Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The successful operation was directed by Senior Superintendent Pariman and supervised by Acting Sergeant Castillo. As investigations continue, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) encourages members of the public to help in the fight against crime by providing information on illegal firearms and other criminal activities.
