On a bright Tuesday, 23rd June, 2026, Trinidad and Tobago’s gospel artiste and motivational speaker, Jaron Nurse, made a significant visit to the Youth Transformation and Rehabilitation Centre (YTRC). He was there to meet Ainsley Grazette, a player from the Prison Service Football Club (PSFC), in an open dialogue about overcoming adversity, faith, and the impact of positive decision-making.

Nurse, a respected figure in the Caribbean gospel music scene, is known for his unique fusion of modern and traditional gospel sounds. Born and raised in the same hometown as Grazette, Carenage, Nurse’s connection to his community runs deep. His music, filled with powerful spiritual messages, often mirrors his personal trials, including exposure to drugs and conflicts during his formative years.

Grazette, currently in his rehabilitation journey, spoke candidly about his experiences with adversity, like losing loved ones to gun violence and navigating the influences around him during his time within the criminal justice system. In their conversation, both men found common ground in their life stories, particularly the struggle against negative influences and the importance of personal responsibility.

Nurse, who was deeply moved by the maturity and growth Grazette displayed, encouraged the young footballer to remain steadfast, keep faith, and continue working towards his goals. Following his discussion with Grazette, Nurse also shared words of encouragement with a group of young women at the YTRC gymnasium, emphasizing positivity, discipline, and commitment to their goals.

His visit is part of a broader initiative at YTRC to expose residents to positive influences and provide meaningful mentorship. The encounter served as a reminder to both Grazette and Nurse of the power of mentorship, faith, and lived experience in guiding young individuals through adversity towards a brighter future.
