Two people were killed and hundreds rescued as a severe storm flooded Palm Bay, Florida, since Sunday. The city’s emergency crews have been battling rising water levels in low‑lying neighborhoods.

The victims were identified as Joshua Bennett, 34, and Archie Richards, 78. Their deaths occurred in separate incidents—Bennett in a vehicle and Richards in a flooded area.

Rescue teams used boats and high‑water vehicles to reach trapped residents. One family recounted that 38 inches of water filled their living room, while many homes suffered extensive damage.

Mayor Rob Medina called the situation "devastation" and warned residents to stay away from flooded roads, fast‑moving water and downed power lines. Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins visited the city, thanked first responders, and noted the heartbreak for newcomers from Louisiana who lost their belongings.

Officials said flooding could continue for days after the rain stops as water slowly drains. Residents are urged to monitor updates and cooperate with local authorities as recovery efforts continue.
