Minister Roger Alexander Checks Warning System In Refurbished Fire Truck During Station Reopening Ceremony
Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander joined an experienced firefighter inside a refurbished fire appliance during a station reopening ceremony, taking a closer look at the vehicle’s audible warning system.
Footage released by the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service shows Alexander seated alongside Firefighter Remington McIntyre, identified as a seasoned Extra Heavy Driver, inside the refurbished fire appliance numbered 503.
The two engaged in conversation while checking the vehicle’s audible warning system, an important safety feature used to alert motorists and pedestrians when firefighters are responding to emergencies.
According to the Fire Service, McIntyre, whose service identification number is 3515, accompanied the Minister during the demonstration.
Following the inspection, Alexander exited the vehicle and rejoined Member of Parliament Saddam Hosein and Acting Chief Fire Officer Ansar Ali as the officials brought the reopening ceremony to a close.
Beyond the ceremonial appearance, the interaction offered a glimpse into the work of experienced fire officers responsible for operating large emergency vehicles.
The refurbishment of appliance 503 also draws attention to the importance of maintaining existing firefighting equipment alongside investments in new vehicles and infrastructure.
The Fire Service has faced longstanding concerns about ageing appliances, vehicle availability and the resources required to maintain effective emergency response capabilities.
While the footage highlighted the refurbished truck, no details were provided about the cost of the refurbishment or its future operational assignment.
