Rasif Mohammed, a 63‑year‑old entrepreneur who ran the Fowl Play poultry shop in the Aripero district of San Fernando, was killed in a midday shooting on Friday, October 2, 2026. The attack unfolded at the very business compound where he had previously survived a gun assault.

Mohammed’s earlier encounter with gunfire occurred on August 29, 2025, when armed assailants opened fire on his shop’s premises. He escaped that incident with injuries but lived.

According to police statements, a gunman approached the compound on October 2 and unleashed a barrage of shots at Mohammed and a 24‑year‑old male labourer traveling with him. The labourer, later identified as Mohammed’s son‑in‑law Jimmy Balack, was also hit.

Both victims were rushed to San Fernando General Hospital. While Balack survived after receiving treatment, Mohammed was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day.

Witnesses described multiple gunmen firing several rounds, and authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible. The incident adds to a growing pattern of violent crime in the region, prompting renewed calls for increased security measures.
