Members of the public will have an opportunity to pay tribute to calypso icon The Mighty Sparrow through condolence books being made available across Trinidad and Tobago from October 1 to 14, 2026.
The Ministry of Culture and Community Development announced the initiative under the theme, “One Last Note… For the King of Calypso,” inviting citizens to record messages and reflections honouring one of the country’s most celebrated cultural figures.
Condolence books will be available at the NAPA Hotel in Port of Spain, in the lobby area; the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts, SAPA; the International Waterfront Complex in Port of Spain, Level 8, Tower C; and the Shaw Park Complex in Tobago.
The public will be able to sign the books between 10 am and 4 pm from October 1 to 14. Municipal Corporations will also host condolence books from October 5 to 14, 2026.
The Ministry said arrangements are also being made for condolence books at Trinidad and Tobago’s foreign missions, with further details to be confirmed.
The initiative gives people at home and abroad an opportunity to leave a personal tribute to The Mighty Sparrow, whose work has occupied a prominent place in Trinidad and Tobago’s calypso tradition and wider Caribbean cultural history.
