Melina Roopnarain has sparked discussion after comparing Trinidad and Tobago’s airport with Antigua’s, saying she was disappointed by what she saw in Trinidad while praising Antigua’s airport. Roopnarain shared her views in a Facebook video while travelling through Trinidad, describing the airport as “one of the most disappointing” she had seen during her Caribbean travels. She contrasted the experience with Antigua, saying she was impressed by the appearance of V.C. Bird International Airport and praising the investment she believes has been made in the facility. Roopnarain also praised Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, whom she referred to as the “World Boss”, saying the country deserved recognition for making its airport attractive. She stressed that her comments about Trinidad were intended as constructive criticism rather than an attempt to bash the country. “Trinidad Airport ain’t got nothing on Antigua Airport,” she said while continuing to praise Antigua. The traveller also reflected on a previous experience in St Kitts, where she said she faced a seven-hour delay and had to spend her own money on food. She thanked a travelling companion for bringing snacks on the latest journey. Roopnarain’s comments represent her personal assessment of the airports and travel experiences rather than an independent evaluation of their facilities or services.
