A young Jamaican scholar from Clarendon is beginning her journey towards becoming a neurologist after entering The University of the West Indies, Mona, with an impressive academic record spanning 33 subjects.
Jamoya Seaton, from Four Paths, Clarendon, has been introduced as The UWI Mona’s Top Matriculant for 2026 as she begins studies in Medicine.
According to information shared by the university, Seaton accumulated 17 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate subjects and 16 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination units before entering university.
Her academic performance extends beyond the number of examinations she completed.
CXC records from 2024 list Jamoya Jameila Seaton among Jamaica’s highest-performing candidates in Integrated Science, where she ranked third on the country’s territorial merit list.
She now enters one of the university’s most demanding programmes as she works towards a career in medicine.
UWI Mona’s medical programme requires students to have a strong foundation in the sciences, including Biology and Chemistry at the advanced level, alongside Mathematics, English Language and the required sciences at CSEC level.
For Seaton, however, entering medical school is another stage of a longer ambition.
The Clarendon native hopes eventually to specialise in neurology, a branch of medicine focused on disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system.
Her progression from Four Paths to UWI Mona highlights a journey marked by academic achievement, determination and a clear professional goal.
With 33 CSEC subjects and CAPE units behind her, Seaton now turns her attention to university and the demanding years of medical training ahead.
