Plumpy Boss’ comeback continues after surviving shooting, embracing peace and returning to music
Trinibad artiste Plumpy Boss appears to be entering a new chapter in his career, with his latest release, “Keep Trying”, gaining more than 330,000 views on YouTube just eight days after its release.
The performance of the song comes against a much bigger story surrounding the artiste, whose journey over the past two years has included surviving a serious shooting, undergoing a lengthy recovery and, more recently, participating in a public push for peace.
Plumpy Boss, whose real name is Meschach Emmanuel, was critically injured following a performance in Sint Maarten in July 2024. He later returned to Trinidad for further medical treatment as he began what would become a lengthy road to recovery.
His survival has since become an important part of his story.
Another significant moment came in August 2026 when Plumpy Boss and fellow Trinibad artiste K-Man participated in peace talks aimed at ending their longstanding feud.
The talks were facilitated by Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander, with Justice Minister Devesh Maharaj also present.
The artistes agreed to put their differences aside, signalling a potentially important change within a music movement that has often faced scrutiny over violent rivalries and lyrical clashes.
Plumpy Boss and K-Man subsequently appeared together at Summer Stage at the Queen’s Park Savannah, publicly reinforcing the reconciliation and Plumpy Boss’ return to the entertainment scene.
Now, “Keep Trying” is adding another chapter to that comeback.
The music video has accumulated approximately 330,000 views, 16,000 likes and close to 1,000 comments on YouTube within eight days.
Against the backdrop of what Plumpy Boss has experienced, the song’s title and message of perseverance carry additional significance.
His latest musical chapter comes after surviving an attack that threatened his life, spending an extended period recovering and participating in an initiative aimed at moving beyond conflict.
For Plumpy Boss, “Keep Trying” arrives at a moment when his public story is increasingly centred on survival, reconciliation and rebuilding.
And with hundreds of thousands of views recorded within its opening days, audiences appear to be paying attention.
