In an overnight national security sweep, police detained 55 undocumented migrants at the Hamaz Recreation Club in Curepe. The operation, which ran from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., involved a coalition of the Anti‑Kidnapping Unit, CID/CRO, the Inter‑Agency Task Force and the Immigration Division.

Officers entered the venue, conducted thorough searches, and seized identification documents. All individuals taken into custody are now being processed under immigration law, with many likely facing deportation. No injuries were reported among either the officers or the detainees.

Following the raid, the recreation club was temporarily shut while authorities continue their investigation. The detainees have been transferred to the Immigration Detention Centre for further processing, and a press briefing later that morning confirmed the successful execution of the operation.

Police officials highlighted the raid as part of a larger strategy to combat illegal entry and organized crime, noting that the coordinated effort disrupted a suspected human‑smuggling network. The operation demonstrates increased inter‑agency cooperation aimed at strengthening national security and immigration enforcement.
