The Trinidad and Tobago government has launched a groundbreaking initiative to offer free certifications to its citizens through Coursera, aiming to boost employability in the ever-expanding remote job market. Residents are encouraged to seize this opportunity to enhance their resumes and acquire in-demand skills without incurring costs.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Administration and AI, allows Trinidadians to enroll in various Coursera courses without paying the usual fees. This move is part of the LearnTT program, which collaborates with major partners like Coursera and Cisco to provide vital upskilling opportunities.
Sasha, a key advocate for the program, emphasizes the importance of quickly capitalizing on this offer. “You don’t need to pay for any of it,” she noted, underscoring the program’s potential to upskill Trinidadians without requiring international travel or accumulating debt.
To participate, residents must meet three simple requirements—being a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, residing in the country, and creating a free LearnTT account. The process is straightforward and can be completed in minutes. However, with a deadline of August 31st, immediate action is required for those interested.
“This is your chance to fill the gaps in your skillset for the roles you aspire to,” urged Sasha. The emphasis is on selecting courses aligned with desired job roles, thereby tailoring the learning experience to individual career goals. With the rise of remote work, these certifications present a timely opportunity to increase competitiveness in the global job market.
