A tragic incident unfolded in the Port of Spain area on Monday morning when a woman was discovered shot dead inside a vehicle. The victim, identified as Jameeila Lewis, was found in a Hilux pickup along Achong Street near the John John intersection.
The discovery was made shortly after 7:00 a.m. when officers from the Besson Street Police Station received a report of a body inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, they found Lewis slumped with multiple gunshot wounds. Several spent shells were found at the scene, as investigators meticulously processed the evidence.
While the police have yet to determine a motive for this violent act, they noted that Lewis was known to law enforcement and had previous interactions with the justice system. Additionally, it was reported that she had no fixed place of abode and would often sleep in her parked vehicle at night.
