Soca Artiste Orlando Octave Appointed to Tourism Trinidad Limited Board of Directors
Soca artiste Orlando Octave has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Tourism Trinidad Limited (TTL), joining a new team tasked with leading the organisation’s strategic direction and supporting the continued growth of Trinidad and Tobago’s tourism sector.
The Board officially received its instruments of appointment from the Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism, Senator Satyakama Maharaj, on Thursday.
The newly appointed Board will oversee Tourism Trinidad Limited’s strategic direction while working to strengthen the Visit Trinbago brand and further position Trinidad and Tobago as a premier tourism destination.
Chairman Benedict Hatem said he and his fellow board members are committed to ensuring the Visit Trinbago brand continues to represent the country with excellence and authenticity on the global stage.
Joining Hatem on the Board are Rennie Mohammed, Swamy Morgan, Indira Rambaran, Michael Salickram, Pramilla Ramdahani, Rene Seepersadsingh, Kalene Garcia-Gosyne, Andrea Bhagwandeen and Vedanand Hargobin.
Octave is widely recognised for his contributions to Trinidad and Tobago’s music industry and cultural landscape. His appointment brings representation from the country’s entertainment sector to the state agency responsible for promoting Trinidad and Tobago to international visitors.
Interestingly, the appointment comes months after Octave, during a podcast conversation with KG, shared his belief that selfless individuals should become involved in politics and public service to help bring about positive change. The comments reflected his view that more people should contribute to national development beyond their respective professions.
Tourism Trinidad Limited plays a key role in marketing Trinidad and Tobago internationally, promoting the country’s tourism product, and supporting initiatives aimed at increasing visitor arrivals and showcasing the nation’s culture, heritage and hospitality.
