Five Trinidadians Sentenced Over Armed Carriacou Bank Robbery
Five Trinidad and Tobago nationals have been sentenced by the Grenada High Court for their roles in an armed robbery at the Co-operative Bank in Carriacou, during which more than EC$30,000 was stolen from three bank tellers.
The men were identified as Nashawn Scotland, Allan Melville, Jabari Roach, Akeem John, and Keon Dick.
According to court information, the group travelled to Carriacou by white pirogue, registration TFT 2032, on October 18, 2021, before carrying out the armed robbery.
Justice Paula Gilford imposed the sentences following the conclusion of the criminal proceedings. Nashawn Scotland received 22 years’ imprisonment, while Allan Melville, Jabari Roach, Akeem John, and Keon Dick were each sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Court records confirm the matter involved charges of robbery with violence, possession of a firearm, and money laundering arising from the October 18, 2021 incident.
The case drew significant attention in Grenada due to the cross-border nature of the crime and the fact that all five convicted men are nationals of Trinidad and Tobago.
