The woman appeared to be holding the space for a relative who was expected to arrive. The report said it was unclear when the video had been recorded. Officers addressed the issue during the weekly Trinidad and Tobago Police Service news conference at the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain. The video had prompted differing views online about whether a person should be able to reserve a space by standing in it. Acting Superintendent Kevin Martin, head of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, suggested that motorists should approach such situations with understanding. He said there was no obvious offence in someone holding a space for another driver, illustrating his point with the example of a person helping a relative take a space as they leave a grocery car park. Acting Assistant Superintendent Owie Russell, of the Communications Unit, encouraged patience and conversation. He said he had personally encountered people reserving spaces for friends and had accepted their explanation before continuing his search for parking. Police Road Safety Co-ordinator Sergeant Brent Batson warned that a minor disagreement could escalate and potentially lead to criminal or traffic charges. His advice was for motorists to exercise restraint and consider whether securing a particular space was worth the trouble an argument could create. The officers’ practical recommendation was to talk calmly and move on if necessary, rather than allow a dispute over parking to become a more serious incident.

[62

post-7140","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-trinidad-and-tobago
["GET
