Two people were killed and hundreds rescued as a severe storm flooded Palm Bay, Florida, since Sunday. The city\u2019s emergency crews have been battling rising water levels in low\u2011lying neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
The victims were identified as Joshua Bennett, 34, and Archie Richards, 78. Their deaths occurred in separate incidents\u2014Bennett in a vehicle and Richards in a flooded area.<\/p>\n
Rescue teams used boats and high\u2011water vehicles to reach trapped residents. One family recounted that 38 inches of water filled their living room, while many homes suffered extensive damage.<\/p>\n
Mayor Rob Medina called the situation "devastation" and warned residents to stay away from flooded roads, fast\u2011moving water and downed power lines. Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins visited the city, thanked first responders, and noted the heartbreak for newcomers from Louisiana who lost their belongings.<\/p>\n
