Scholarship recipients must serve in the national health system for at least three years after completing their studies.

Tufton made the remarks during the recent opening of Tensie Mae Robinson Medical Limited, a private healthcare facility in Portmore, St Catherine. He described the main workforce challenge as a shortage of specialist nurses, while saying Jamaica had a steady supply of general registered nurses.

The minister urged nurses to use the available training opportunities to develop specialist skills. He said further qualifications could improve patient care and support career advancement in both public and private healthcare.

His message also extended to private healthcare providers. Tufton encouraged facility owners to develop strong staffing plans alongside their investment in buildings and advanced diagnostic equipment, emphasising the need for trained people to deliver care.

He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working with private healthcare institutions to support the skilled workforce required by the national health system.

The scholarship’s three-year service requirement links the training investment to continued work within that system. The report did not provide an application deadline or instructions for applying.

[17

post-6596","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-jamaica
["GET
