A United Nations Albania account describes an evening on 15 June when members of the diplomatic community visited the city’s Archaeological Museum before gathering at the tower for a performance. Both landmarks were damaged by the 2019 earthquake and restored through the EU4Culture programme. The UN presents the gathering as an example of their renewed use as places for culture, education and creativity, alongside their role in preserving the past. The tower performance introduced a contemporary dance production by choreographer Edi Blloshmi, with original music by Robert Bisha. According to the account, the work brought together movement, sound, memory and transformation. The presentation was described as the opening chapter of a larger production intended for a world premiere across two evenings at Albania’s National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. The European Union and EU4Culture supported the production. The UN links that support to a wider connection between restored heritage, contemporary creation and a new generation of performers. EU4Culture was implemented by UNOPS in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports. Reflecting on the programme as it approached its close, the UN account emphasised the cultural uses of the restored buildings as well as the restoration work itself. The evening gave that idea a concrete form: an archaeological museum hosted an encounter with history, while the Venetian Tower accommodated a new performance. In those two settings, the programme’s legacy was expressed through both the preservation of historic landmarks and the activities they could host.

[1

post-6554","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
