The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and iGovTT have signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for cooperation on broadband connectivity, digital public services, cybersecurity and emerging technologies.

TTT News reported the agreement on October 23. The signing took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at iGovTT’s offices on Pembroke Street, Port of Spain.

TATT Chief Executive Officer Kurleigh Prescod and Charles Bobb-Semple, acting chief executive officer of the National Information and Communication Technology Company Limited, known as iGovTT, executed the agreement. Board chairs Cris Seecheran of TATT and Ria Karim of iGovTT witnessed the signing.

Under the memorandum, the organisations will exchange information, expertise and best practices, maintain dialogue on shared interests and support regulatory approaches that respond to evolving technologies. They will also undertake initiatives and projects they consider necessary to advance the agreement’s objectives.

The identified areas of cooperation include broadband infrastructure deployment, universal service and digital inclusion. The agreement also covers facilitating access to digital public infrastructure applications and services.

Another area is policy development for the adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, satellite connectivity and cloud computing platforms. Network security, cybersecurity, resilience and trusted network frameworks are also included.

The partnership extends to ICT training and capacity building, as well as representation of Trinidad and Tobago at regional and international forums. Collaboration will take place within the respective roles and functions of the two organisations.

According to the report, the memorandum aligns with a broader national digital strategy by creating a formal structure for coordination and information exchange. Its stated purpose is to strengthen technical, regulatory and administrative cooperation in telecommunications policies and practices.

The announcement identifies the areas the agencies intend to address together, but provides no project budgets, implementation deadlines or launch dates for individual services.
