The samples had not yet been dispatched, according to his account.

The remains were discovered at the bottom of a precipice in the northern community of Capuchin on August 12. Paul was last seen at her home on July 24 and was reported missing the following day.

Corbett said investigators believe the remains are those of the teenager, but DNA analysis is needed to establish the identity conclusively for evidentiary purposes. Police conducted an autopsy and collected samples from the remains.

Investigators considered identification through dental records, but did not have the records required to use that method, the commissioner said. They therefore selected DNA analysis.

Police have chosen to have an officer deliver the samples personally instead of using a courier. Corbett said the paperwork had been completed and a flight was being arranged.

Four people, including serving police officers, have been charged in connection with Paul’s death, the report said. Corbett described confirmation of the remains’ identity as critical to strengthening the prosecution’s case. The proposed testing in Jamaica is intended to provide that confirmation; identification remains unverified pending analysis.

[17

post-6360","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-jamaica
["GET
