We’ve seen orange juice in a packet, pineapple juice in a packet, and just about every other flavour imaginable. But Carib beer in a packet?<\/p>\n
And for just four dollars?<\/p>\n
That’s what a man in a viral video appears to be suggesting as he holds up a small plastic pouch bearing the familiar Carib Premium Lager label.<\/p>\n
In the footage, the man proudly displays the unusual packaging and says “four dollars”, seemingly presenting the pouch as an authentic product available at that price.<\/p>\n
And at first glance, it looks convincing.<\/p>\n
The packet contains a bright yellow liquid, while the familiar Carib branding gives it the appearance of a miniature beer product.<\/p>\n
But is it really Carib in a packet, or is something else going on?<\/p>\n
Well, a closer look reveals the trick.<\/p>\n
What initially appears to be a new beer product is actually an ordinary juice pouch with what appears to be a Carib bottle label stuck onto the front.<\/p>\n
The video, shared by Facebook page Anything News, was accompanied by the humorous caption, “Place hard yuh could still afford to drink a pack Carib.”<\/p>\n
Some viewers were quick to catch on.<\/p>\n
One commenter pointed out that someone had simply stuck the Carib label onto a juice packet, while another questioned why the liquid appeared so yellow and how the small pouch could contain the 275 millilitres indicated on the label.<\/p>\n
Others found the idea hilarious, particularly against the backdrop of rising living costs.<\/p>\n
But interestingly, some viewers thought the concept had potential.<\/p>\n
One suggested that beer sold in pouches could be convenient for fetes and boat rides where glass bottles are prohibited, while another encouraged Carib to consider the idea.<\/p>\n
There is no verified indication that Carib Brewery has introduced such a product, and the actual contents of the pouch remain unconfirmed.<\/p>\n
So while the man in the video gives the price as four dollars, the apparent bargain looks more like a clever social media prank than a genuine product offering.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, the video has certainly captured the imagination of Trinidadians.<\/p>\n
