Singer Mela Caribe has shared a deeply emotional farewell to her mother, paying tribute to the woman she described as her rock, her safe place and her greatest supporter.

In a heartfelt Instagram post ahead of her mother’s final farewell, the entertainer reflected on their close relationship, revealing that growing up as an only child meant it had always been just the two of them.

Mela described her mother as beautiful, bold, charismatic and supportive, recalling how she never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud she was of her daughter.

One of the most touching moments in the tribute came as Mela recalled the encouragement her mother gave her throughout her musical journey.

“Sing like you’ve never sung before,” her mother would tell her, constantly reminding her to let her light shine.

Mela promised to honour those words by continuing to sing, live fully and pursue the dreams her mother helped nurture.

She also recalled a particularly touching memory of her mother’s love for her stage identity, revealing that she once wrote the name Mela Caribe in the snow.

Reflecting on the sacrifices made throughout her upbringing, Mela credited her mother with helping shape the woman she has become.

She described herself as a seed her mother had planted and watered every day, acknowledging the lessons, encouragement and unconditional love that guided her journey.

In the post, Mela said she was preparing to lay her mother to rest the following day and was asking for the strength to face that difficult moment.

Despite the pain of her loss, the singer expressed determination to carry her mother’s strength into the next chapter of her life.

She concluded with a powerful declaration of love and identity, reminding her mother that she remains her daughter, her seed and her legacy.

The tribute captures the profound bond between mother and daughter, and the lasting influence of a parent whose greatest pride was watching her child grow and succeed.
