{"id":5044,"date":"2026-10-01T10:13:24","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/?p=5044"},"modified":"2026-10-01T10:13:24","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:13:24","slug":"trinidad-and-tobago-unemployment-rises-to-5-4-in-first-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/?p=5044","title":{"rendered":"Trinidad And Tobago Unemployment Rises To 5.4% In First Quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trinidad and Tobago\u2019s unemployment rate has climbed to 5.4%, with thousands more people now looking for work.<\/p>\n<p>Official figures from the Central Statistical Office show unemployment rising from 4.3% in the final quarter of 2025 to 5.4% during the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The number of unemployed people increased from approximately 25,700 to 31,900, while the number of people with jobs declined from 569,900 to 564,000.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a major increase in people actively searching for employment, with that figure jumping by more than 27% compared with the previous quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Young people were particularly affected.
