Trincity\/Maloney MP Camille Robinson-Regis has raised fresh concerns about conditions in Maloney, pointing to accumulated garbage, overgrown grass and reports of rodents in areas where residents and children live and move daily. In a public message accompanied by footage showing a substantial pile-up of discarded material, Robinson-Regis questioned why residents should have to repeatedly make calls, send messages and lodge complaints to receive basic services. \u201cImagine stepping outside your home every day to see overgrown grass, garbage piling up and rodents roaming around the very places where your children live and play,\u201d she said. Robinson-Regis questioned the existing arrangements for scavenging and grass cutting and called on the Housing Development Corporation and relevant authorities to establish and maintain a proper schedule for garbage collection and general maintenance. During her remarks, the MP also directly addressed Minister in the Ministry of Housing Phillip Alexander while pointing to the condition of an area she identified as one of the community\u2019s car parks. \u201cIt is horrible. It is unfair to the people of Maloney,\u201d Robinson-Regis said. She described a putrid smell at the location and argued that residents were not accustomed to living under such conditions. Robinson-Regis then challenged Alexander over statements about cleaning up the community. \u201cSo when you, Philip Alexander, talking about your cleaning up and not telling the truth, look at the state of the place,\u201d she said. \u201cLook, this is one of the car parks and all of them are in the same state.\u201d The MP said overgrown areas need to be cleared, accumulated garbage removed and residents\u2019 reports of rodents addressed. She also called for greater certainty about when maintenance services will take place so residents are not left repeatedly seeking intervention. Robinson-Regis said the situation was unfair to residents and maintained that the community should not have to accept the conditions she highlighted. \u201cIt is terrible. It is unfair. And we do not want to live like this. The people of Maloney deserve better than this,\u201d she said.
